Shakti!

This is a classic video of "Shakti".

Shakti was formed in 1975 by the legendary British jazz guitarist John Mc Laughlin. The approach of the project was exclusively orientated to East meets West musical arguments. For this original musical adventure, Mc Laughlin is accompanied by classical Indian instrumentists whose Zakir Hussain on tabla, L. Shankar on violin and Vikku Vinayakram on ghatam.

Millenium Campaign

AR Rahman's campaign for TB

You've heard him sing, you've heard his fingers speak when he plays the keyboard, now listen to him speak his heart out for the Millenium TB campaign.

Saturday Night in Bombay features the current touring version of McLaughlin's Indian/Western improvisational quartet, which includes Zakir Hussain, U. Shrinivas, and V.Selvaganesh-Remember Shakti.

Guests (In this video)
Shankar Mahadevan - vocals
Debashish Bhattacharya - Hindustani slide guitar

ukulele magic

Jake Shimabukuro performs his version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by George Harrison(GOD) on the ukulele. In his intro he sez "it goes sumthing like this". Call that modesty!
Practice makes a man GOD! It's a "goosebumpy" video. He plays the chords and leads at the same time in the second half of the video. Stunning! Nothing parallels live music and watching musicians play.

Jana Gana Mana

The National Anthem of India. A soul stirring song rendered by the heart and soul of Indian music, first an instrumental and then with vocals. By the time Smt D.K Pattammal sings "Vindhya Himachala..." the already wet eye sheds the tear. The power of music!
